Vocal Ensemble Auditions
Thank you for your interest in our audition-only vocal ensembles! Your audition will also act as a consultation. We will provide immediate feedback during your audition/consultation including:
- Your readiness to participate in your desired vocal ensemble
- Areas of strength as a vocalist and ensemble member
- Areas that need improvement
- Suggestions for your musical growth
Audition Requirements
Coast Music Singers (ages 9-12)
Range check: We will take you through some simple exercises to check your vocal range and tone quality.
Ear Training: We will sing short phrases to you and you sing them back
Happy Birthday: You sing “Happy Birthday” a cappella. We may ask you to sing it again. If so, we will harmonize with you.
Song of Your Choice: Sing a 1-2 min version of your chosen song for us.
Coast Music Harmonix (ages 13-16)
Range check: We will take you through some simple exercises to check your vocal range and tone quality.
Ear Training: We will sing short phrases to you and you sing them back
Happy Birthday: You sing “Happy Birthday” a cappella. We may ask you to sing it again. If so, we will harmonize with you.
Perform your voice part on “Late Night Talking” Page 1. We will sing with you.
Song of Your Choice: Sing a 1-2 min version of your chosen song for us.
Coast Vocal Collective (ages 16-Adult)
Range check: We will take you through some simple exercises to check your vocal range
Scales: Sing a chromatic one-octave scale ascending and descending
Ear Training: We will sing short phrases to you and you sing them back
Happy Birthday: You sing “Happy Birthday” a cappella. We may ask you to sing it again. If so, we will harmonize with you.
Perform your voice part on “All of Me” Page 1. We will sing with you.
Song of Your Choice: Sing a 1-2 min version of your chosen song for us.
