Here is a great tutorial. This drummer doesn’t have a finger snap drum pad so he is using rims and tambourine on hihat to emulate that. You will use the drum pad. what I really want you to study is the chorus groove. It’s very powerful and driving which we want as a strong contrast to the sparse verse.
