Katie Ward is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer from San Diego, where she grew up performing in musicals with companies such as the San Diego Repertory Theatre and The Old Globe.
At 14 she began studying guitar, which allowed her to explore her love of music separately from theatre. She began studying jazz voice at 17 with Melonie Grinnell, then continued to hone her craft under the instruction of Aimee Nolte and Michele Weir. In 2018 she graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies with a vocal performance emphasis. While at UCLA, she was a featured soloist in Kenny Burrell’s 85th birthday concert, and performed in big bands, chamber choirs, and jazz combos. Since graduation she has been writing and performing her original music around San Diego and Los Angeles. She is passionate about her work and excited to share what she has learned with her students.
