Valerie:

We may have you do the chorus on the other keyboard with the horns, throttling the volume knob.  Listen to the track hear how the horns play chords and slowly get louder and more intense.  Really great musical effect!

Valerie:

They hardest thing about Valerie, is going to be not getting tired and slowing down.  When you practice this song, try to practice it to a metronome, and see how long you can go!

Joshua

Valerie:

In order to always be in time, no matter what syncopation you’re trying to get with the guitar, make sure you always move your hand up and down in time.  You don’t play the strings every time you pass them, but you should always be going up and down like a pendulum.  If you look at the video of me playing your part, notice how my hand goes up and down in time, even though I’m not playing the strings with every pass.

Spend some time familiarizing yourself with our band tunes- particularly the lyrics to “Valerie”  You are going to CRUSH it!

Valerie:

For Valerie, the hardest part is going to be getting that staccato note length.  Try not to have your notes ring into each other.  Slightly lift pressure with your left hand to control when the note cuts out.
