Addison Tharp

Addison Tharp is an accomplished composer, arranger, trumpet player, and pianist based in Los Angeles. He received a BFA in Jazz Studies from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance in 2021. He received his Master’s Degree from USC’s Thornton School of Music in 2023 where he studied with Michael Stever and Russell Ferrante. He is currently pursuing his DMA at USC.
Addison has played at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, where he received the Outstanding Musicianship Award, the Detroit Jazz Festival, and Carnegie Hall. He is a Downbeat Award winner, and his compositions have been featured at JEN (Jazz Education Network).
Addison is accomplished in many styles of music, and he encourages his students to explore various genres to unlock their full potential. Tharp encourages his students to be expressive and authentic, which is how he gets the best out of his students.
