When learning “Just a Girl” we strongly recommend using Marti’s suggested fingering of the different parts.  Even if its a tiny bit more awkward to learn, I promise it will make it way easier to play at the tempo of the song!

For “Just a Girl”  give a lot of listens to the song.  The form is a little unintuitive, and having it in solidly in  your head will serve you very well!

Birds of a Feather – guitar

For “Just a girl”  take your time getting your intro/verse part up to speed.  For the chorus, the really nice thing is all your notes happen to be on the dots, so it’s very easy to spot your frets!

For Just a girl. the punk beat during the chorus is SUPER tough.  I would suggest trying to get it at a very slow pace, and very gradually get it up to speed.  I would also try to get the different parts down separately- I try to start with just the crash, and then add one element at a time.

When playing “Just a Girl” I want you to listen very carefully to the drums.  Try very hard to “lock in” with the drums.  If you guys are solid together, everyone will have a much easier time playing along and sounding good!
